Our full day tour to Tivoli had us visiting the Villa d’ Este, a famous resort for Romans for more than 2000 years. The villa is a beautiful private Renaissance mansion, once the home of the Cardinal Ippolito d’Este.  He spent years creating unbelievable terraced gardens filled with hundreds of fountains and waterfalls. Imagine the ingenuity of  creating these fountains hundreds of years ago with out electricity!
